Library Services

The Library services / facilities include Circulation Service, Reference Service, Online reservation of books, Recommendation of library material, Current Awareness Service, Inter Library Loan Service, Photocopying / Printing Service, Orientation and Information Sessions, Selective Dissemination of Information, Audio Visual Service and Multimedia Section.

 

Laptop computers are available for checkout to AdDU students. Laptops are available at the Miguel Pro Learning Commons.

Policies:

  1. Laptops should only be used inside the premises of the Miguel Pro Learning Commons.
  2. Borrowers are required to deposit their ADDU I.D. at the MPLC Circulation Desk for the duration of the borrowing period. First-time borrowers will be asked to complete a Laptop Loan Agreement form. This form is renewed
  3. Laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and may be checked out for a maximum of two (2) hours. Holds and reservations of laptops are not allowed. The borrower may request for a 1-hour extension if there is no standing request for the next hour.
  4. Laptops must be returned by the borrower (not by proxy/representative) at the Circulation Desk 30 minutes before the MPLC closes regardless of the amount of time left on loan. Borrowers are required to wait for verification and clearing.
  5. Late return of laptops is subject to a fine of Php 50.00 per hour. Payment will be made at the MPLC Circulation Desk.
  6. Students may borrow only one (1) laptop at a time.
  7. Users should not add, delete, or change any programs/applications without the permission of the MPLC In-Charge.
  8. Any files saved on the hard drive or desktop will be lost when the laptop is shut down or rebooted. It is the sole responsibility of the user to save his/her files in a web-based storage site or send via e-mail. Use of USB flash drives is discouraged as the files in those media may contain computer viruses that could render the computer temporarily or permanently unusable. MPLC is not responsible for lost files.
  9. The MPLC reserves the right to decline usage to any borrower at any time. Laptop use is a privilege that will be revoked if service is abused.
  10. The borrower agrees to assume any legal liability for the cost of repair or full replacement in the event of loss due to theft, damage, negligence, or misuse.
  11. The university’s Policy on Acceptable Use of Electronic Resources applies to all laptop users.

 

 

Digital Document Delivery Service is a value added service provided to AdDU Library patrons. It provides free scanning and delivery of articles and book chapters of collections held at the library. DDDS requests may be found at Remote Library portal or on the library website

Purpose

Collaboration Hubs are venues for students to meet, discuss, collaborate, and create new ideas. Groups ranging from 4 to 10 persons at maximum.

Policies

  • Requesting parties must reserve a collaboration hub via https://library.addu.edu.ph/hub.  All necessary information must be entered.
  • Proceed to the CIRCULATION DESK to secure a key and check-in.
  • Collaboration Hubs may be used for a maximum of 2 hours at any one session.
  • If reserving party has not checked in 15 minutes after their reservation time, their reservation will automatically be canceled.
  • Users are responsible for their personal belongings at all times. Personal items should not be left unattended.
  • The Hubs are not soundproof: therefore, users should maintain a moderate noise level to avoid disturbing other users in adjoining hubs and reading areas.
  • CLAYGO is a must. Users should leave the hub in good condition for the next occupants.
  • Food and beverages are not allowed inside the hubs.
  • Users are expected to respect and care for the furniture, materials, equipment, and furnishings inside the hubs.
  • Doing projects and playing games in the Collaboration Hubs are prohibited.
  • Failure to comply with library rules and regulations will be grounds for termination of Collaboration Hub privileges.

Guideline

The Multi-Purpose Room is intended primarily for library activities such as orientations and instructions. Students, faculty and offices may request to use the area for events such as conferences, forums, assemblies, conventions, seminars and meetings.

Is an area available for students who are looking for a space to study and to work on their own or in a group beyond the service hours of the Miguel Pro Learning Commons. This area is open until 10:00 in the evening.

The Readers’ Services is the largest unit of the University Libraries. It includes the Fr. Mateo Gisbert, SJ Library, Miguel Pro Learning Commons, Law and Business Graduate Library, American Corner, and Faculty Resource Center. It caters the AdDU community, visiting researchers, and the public in utilizing the resources and services of the University Libraries.

Policies

 

  • Students (Undergraduate, Graduate, and Law School) may borrow fifteen (15) books at a time and may renew them if no one has placed the titles on hold. Renewal of books can only be done once to ensure equal opportunity for other users.
  • Full-time faculty members may borrow twenty (20) books at a time for one semester.
  • Part-time faculty members may borrow ten (10) books at a time for ninety (90) days and renew them for another 90 days if no one has placed a reservation.
  • Non-teaching staff may borrow ten (10) books at a time for 30 (thirty) days and renew them for another 30 days if no one has placed a reservation.

Note: Law students are not allowed to borrow books for home use during Summer.

 

Returning/Check-in

  • Borrowed items may be returned at designated counters of the Libraries during the respective libraries’ service hours.
  • Materials returned late are subject to overdue fines.

Policies

  • Photocopying reserved books outside the library is prohibited if the library photocopying service is operational.
  • Users are allowed to photocopy certain pages and chapters but are not permitted to photocopy the entire book in adherence to copyright law.
